Landlords, rental companies, and infuriating HOA communities will find every way to take advantage of their tenants and homeowners. Don't believe me? This next story will teach you what happens when an HOA takes it upon itself to hook up its electric pool pump to one of its tenants' electricity.
Electric bills in the summer are steep, especially because we're constantly running air conditioning units all day. Even still, our electric bills should never soar over a certain amount. The renter in this next story realized that their electric bill was over $250, and even when they cut down on their AC usage, that number stayed the same. They soon found out that an electric pool pump belonging to their apartment complex is connected to their electricity, and they've been fronting the cost of it the entire summer.
The renter explains that their complex is run by slumlords, so it's up to them and them alone to rectify the situation. Commenters suggest they go to the electric company, but I think they should go to the police. Scroll below to read the full story. What would you do if you were the tenant in this situation?
