The concept of child-free weddings is absolutely repellent to some people. They just can't understand it! Why wouldn't you want kids at your wedding? They're family too, after all.
It's not like the people having child-free weddings dislike kids. They usually just know that children bring chaos everywhere they go! It's not even the kids' fault, that's just their nature. They're curious, they get messy, they're talkative and loud. They love to do things like shouting, "This is boring, can we go home?" during the solemn wedding vows. Don't get me wrong — that is very, very funny when kids do that (although their parents will be totally mortified!). Or other times, kids will start running around during the reception, which is fine if you have the space for it, but having kids underfoot while everyone's trying to dance can be, again, a bit chaotic.
Some folks can't imagine a wedding without their sweet young relatives, but for other people, it's just too much to handle on an already notoriously stressful day of one's life. It's a very personal decision, and it can be a tricky subject to bring up to those in your life who have kids. You basically have to assure them that you love their kiddos, but they won't be welcome at the wedding. That can be totally awkward! And, as this person below found out, some people just simply won't oblige. They'll just show up with the baby in tow, expecting to enjoy the ceremony anyway.
