Guest sues hotel after she forgets passport in her room, causing her to miss her flight when hotel staff struggle to find it: ‘She holds us legally responsible’

How many times on average do you check to ensure your passport is still in your possession while on vacation?

Everyone's worst nightmare when they are away from home is finding out they misplaced their passport and have no way to return. It's the one item you cannot afford to lose when you still have a flight to catch, and so most people would not move an inch without knowing exactly where that item is at any given moment.

Not the lady in the story below, however. She managed to leave her passport in her hotel safe before checking out and heading to the airport. By the time she realized the passport was not on her, it was too late to make it to the hotel and back in time to board the flight. But, instead of recognizing that the mistake was hers for forgetting the passport in the first place, she decided to blame the hotel staff for taking too long to find it and get it back to her. 

When she threatened to sue for the money she lost due to the missed flight, the hotel staff realized she was not playing around, and definitely not willing to own up to her mistakes.
