It's kind of crazy how much The Lord of the Rings seems to have had an influence on all of the tech bros out there. It seems like every other company founded is given a name referencing the iconic works of Tolkien. Peter Thiel is the main offender with Palantir, Valar Ventures, Mithril Capital, Rivendell, and Lembas LLC, but Palmer Lucky also has Erebor and Anduril, and there is even an AI-based home security system on the market called Sauron Systems.
People have theorized that part of the attraction to these names is how the LOTR story represents a group of individuals having the determination to achieve something extraordinary. It also promotes the power of friendship and moral fortitude, which these bozos don't seem so concerned about, but those who make memes about all things Middle-earth certainly are.
