17-year-old employee gets fired for not personally calling in sick after fainting and going to the emergency room: 'We're praying for you but you're fired'

It's never a good time to lose your job, but getting fired right after you've been admitted into a hospital is particularly unfortunate timing. The worst part is that this 17-year-old new hire had attempted to call in sick, but apparently her attempts weren't good enough because she didn't deliver a doctor's note in person. The reason? She was in the emergency room and was unable to leave.

This story serves as yet another example of what happens when employers start viewing their hires as pawns rather than people. This teenager tried to get ahead of the situation by having her family step in and deliver the doctor's note on her behalf. The fact that this wasn't a good enough excuse for the employee's manager just goes to show that the manager was either excited about flexing their authority or they were already planning on firing this person anyway. 

It seems like there was nothing the 17-year-old could have done, but here's hoping she makes a smooth recovery from her fainting spell first and foremost before getting back into the workforce.
