Back in the 80s, I thought my Commodore 64 was pretty cool. And the NES? That thing changed lives. But then I saw an Amiga. I was walking through the mall, probably sticky from an Orange Julius, when I passed the computer store and saw it: colors, shading, smooth animations - it was like the future had arrived early. Compared to what I had at home, the Amiga looked like it was from another planet. A planet where pixels had depth, shadows existed, and explosions actually looked cool.
This was a time when most games had exactly three colors and your character was just a collection of vaguely humanoid blobs. Meanwhile, the Amiga was out here casually flexing 4096 colors with the kind of demo scenes that made you question reality. Even if you didn't own one, you knew someone who wouldn't shut up about it.
So let's relive that feeling. These 32 stunning screenshots from the Amiga's heyday are more than just eye candy - they're proof that, for a little while, one machine ruled the pixelverse.
