The mother, who threatens to put her plan to visit her daughter to rest because she isn't getting her way, is a clear example of what happens when someone is unable to regulate how they're feeling. In turn, they isolate themselves from those who love them. Her daughter responded in empathy, yet the mother couldn't pull it together.
