Story time!

Last month, my husband's family–his parents, sister, brother, and their kids all went on a vacation abroad. We were obviously invited to join them as well, but we knew we only had a few vacation days this summer, and we already planned a trip, just the two of us, someplace else. After much debating, we decided that we value our alone time slighly more than the family time we would have had to deal with if we went on with the rest of the family, so we opted out of the family trip.

They had a great time, and so did we.

No one was mad that we said 'no' to the family trip, they actually understood how important it is to have alone time as a couple, and were very supportive of our decision to go on a vacation alone. How did we manage that, you ask? We communicated our wants and needs and were honest about how we were feeling.

Which is the one thing the woman in the story below failed to do herself.
