Oh, the wonders of social media. It's really shocking to me that social media can be so obviously fake, contrived, and conceited, but people will still put it on some weird pedestal of lived experience. Who decided that going on a plane, flying to another country, and walking around licking gelato was better than staying in your hometown doing what you're habitually used to doing? I think whatever makes someone happy is what should create envy, not just a blind notion of the unknown. Social media is like looking at someone through a veil, a filter; it's an avatar that has remnants of the real person in real life, but isn't an equal translation.

We live in a strange world where we desire an image more than the real thing. Even many men desire a woman on their phone compared to a real woman in real life.
