    Responsible tenant told to move out for a week, with only a 50$ compensation, after homeowner tells him he needs the room for extended family coming to town: 'He told me to stay with my mother for five days'

    When you sublet a room in someone else's apartment or house, there comes a time when your mind slips away from all the 'exciting possibilities' and instead tends to linger on all that could go wrong…

    When living in someone else's 'space', regardless of paying a full rental for it, there is this sort of unspoken entitlement that sparks a condescending 'mine-attitude' over the space. So, if you are a lessee who sticks to all the rules, is the room or home still ever really yours?

    This tenant is left with identical feelings and frustrations after their entitled homeowner expects them to temporarily move out of the apartment at a drop of a hat, to ensure that there is space for the homeowner's extended family to stay over. And instead of even offering to put them up in a hotel for the week, the homeowner suggests that the tenant move back in with their mother…

    Now we know what you are thinking: Surely this can't be legal? This tenant pays for the right to this property and cannot be kicked out with only a 50$ compensation whenever the landlord feels like it…

    So, what is the solution here? 

    a.) Stand their ground and refuse to move out at last-minute requests or b.) Run away from this renter as fast as they can!
