In our story today, a young man fails to ask for permission to propose to his girlfriend in the middle of a wedding reception. For many, an act that so deliberately steals attention from the couple getting married is unthinkable, but some brides and grooms do give their blessing. It was clear by the bride's reaction, however, that the proposal had not been discussed beforehand. Her best friend, the one getting proposed to, shuts it down as smoothly as she can, but the damage had already been done.

The best friend's silence is totally unwarranted. Our protagonist shouldn't be punished for her boyfriend's behavior. She did her best to shut it down as smoothly as she could when she realized what was happening.
