In retail work, you'll have a few truly excellent days, like the day you hand in your 2-week's notice, the day you actually leave for good, and the day you get to tell off your worst customer ever. Working in retail can really sap your faith in humanity. Or, if you enjoy looking at the glass half full, it can really boost your confidence in your own intelligence! When you find yourself arguing over and over about the same things, it just drains you. Customers will look you right in the eye and lie about the price of items. They'll stand right next to a 10% off sign and insist that it says 50% off. They'll say they gave you a $100 bill when they actually handed over a $20. Some will just insult your appearance or badmouth your job. Life would be so sweet if every cashier was allowed to talk to customers in the manner they deserve, but no, many bosses prioritize customer service over telling the customer he's a big dummy.
