When it comes to the holy trinity of fandoms, you may only pick one to represent your personality entirely: Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, or The Lord of the Rings. For most of us, that's a no-brainer, but for the unwitting masses of uncultured swine who pick anything other than LOTR, I feel sorry for you. Beyond its incredible storytelling and epic tales of heroism, The Lord of the Rings is a standalone masterpiece. Pulling our heartstrings with stories of power, love, betrayal, fellowship, destiny, and all the messy hobbit-walks in between, readers and movie-goers are flummoxed by the relatability of these fated characters.
Perhaps GOT or HP lovers just haven't understood the subtext of The Silmarillion or enjoyed time and time again the ramblings of our favorite children's novel, The Hobbit, but it's the richness of the tales between hobbits, orcs, maiar, tree-folk, and balrogs that captivate our hearts and souls for all time. So if you haven't jumped on the Lord of the Rings bandwagon yet, please, come join me and the other Hobbiton-bound obsessives, because up here in Rivendell, the air is crisp, clear, and full of the songs of the ancient elves.
