Son offers to pay half of mom's rent after she reveals it's overdue, only for entitled mom to complain he's not giving her the full amount: ‘You can afford it, why just half?’

You know how kids cannot hide their feelings, so they wear their hearts on their sleeves, and voice out everything on their minds, for better or for worse?

Some adults are like that, too.

Whenever I give my nieces gifts, I know I could be met with two possible responses: Either they are over the moon happy, or they are completely and utterly disappointed. When it's the latter, they have no problem telling me that the gifts they got did not live up to their expectation, and that they want me to do better next time. And while I respect their juvenile honesty, it always stings a bit when I know I failed them.

That being said, if the same thing were to happen to me with a fully-grown adult, they would not have been met with the same understanding. There's no excuse for an adult to act disappointed or entitled when they are given a gift, even if they don't like it. Just say thank you, and move on, no need for juvenile honesty here.

When the entitled mother decided to complain about her son's generous offer to pay half of her overdue rent, she reminded me of my 5-year-old niece. She had no right to pull a face and demand more money. Luckily, her son was not above telling her that.
