Was life actually better in the 80s and 90s, or were we just too young and sugar-high to notice how weird things were? I keep asking myself that. On one hand, yes - modern life is objectively more convenient. You can ask your phone to order sushi, remind you to take your vitamins, and tell you what episode of Knight Rider had that one specific evil robot car (Episode 108: Trust Doesn't Rust). That's incredible.
But on the other hand, I miss when everything didn't feel so... exhausting. Back then, if you didn't know something, you just didn't know it. Mystery! Wonder! A reason to start a weird rumor on the playground. Today, we have unlimited answers at our fingertips and somehow still feel overwhelmed.
I'm not saying life was perfect before smartphones and streaming services - but man, it felt simpler. Watching cartoons after school, making mixtapes off the radio, blowing into video game cartridges like it was a sacred ritual. No algorithms, no doomscrolling. Just vibes.
These 34 memes are for those of us who remember what it was like to live before all of... this. Before "inbox zero" and "influencer drama" and "subscriptions to your toothpaste." A little nostalgia hit for the analog kids who grew up and still kind of miss dial-up.
