    I'll never forget my 8th birthday. My grandma outdid herself with a train cake—five or six loaf cakes strung together, enough to feed my entire class, all crammed onto our tiny front porch. There was singing, games, the works. But I was laser-focused on the stack of presents in the corner, specifically the biggest box. I knew it was the Rambo action figure I'd been begging for, complete with all the guns, knives, and gear.

    Finally, it was time. I tore into that box with the excitement only an 8-year-old can muster, and there it was… a "RANBO" figure. It was cheap. It was fake. It was hilarious. My classmates thought so too—they were howling with laughter. I tried to play it cool, but it stung a little. Still, I could never blame my mom. How could she know it was a knockoff? These things were practically designed to trick well-meaning parents who just wanted to make their kids happy.
