We firmly believe that work-related conversations should only happen within the office walls. Unless you are a remote employee, there is no reason for you to even have to hear your boss's voice in the comfort of your own home. Work is done at work, and as soon as you leave for the day, you should not deal with anything work-related until the next time you set foot in the office.
However, we know that this is not actually a realistic take. Most people find themselves working even when they are not officially on the clock, and we have somehow come to accept the reality in which we are expected to always answer the phone when our boss is calling.
Still, some lines should not be crossed, no matter what. If your boss calls you at 3 AM, that is not okay. And if your boss tells you he only wants to have meetings at night, in your own home, that is a crossed line so red and so alarming, HR should definitely be made aware.
