Whether we like it or not, some dog owner find themselves in an impossible situation where the only option they have is to say goodbye to their beloved dog. We know how challenging it is and how heartbreaking it can be, so we do not judge when people reach that difficult outcome. As long as the rehoming process is done safely and responsibly, with the care and love the dog deserves, it could very well be a positive thing that will benefit everyone involved, especially the doggo.
That being said, even after the rehoming process, things could still go wrong, so both the previous owner and the new owner need to tread carefully, for the sake of the dog they both clearly care about.
For example, a dog owner might rehome their dog to someone they do not fully trust, and they might start seeing red flags after they hand over the leash. Similarly, a new dog owner might find themselves being roped into a relationship with the previous owner, because they are unable to let their dog go.
