There's nothing wrong with getting some company merch — a lot of people do appreciate it — but that can't be in place of a raise or bonus. Employees just care far more about their bank accounts, but some higher-ups seem willfully blind to this. They're the type of CEO who thinks that a pizza party is the right answer to every question. Layoffs causing low morale? Pizza party! Everyone worked overtime for months, and now they're drained? Better have that pizza parlor on speed dial.
