Pregnant mom expects best friend to use her PTO to be a free live-in maid post-pregnancy despite husband having taken paternity leave to stay at home: "I"m not willing to support her and her husband"

While it certainly isn't a given that a new mother will receive maternity leave from her new job, it is much rarer for a new dad to be granted paternity leave. Unfortunately, maternity and paternity leave are not codified into US law the way that they are in most European countries. In EU countries, moms are required to take at least 14 weeks off from their job to focus on healing their bodies and bonding with the baby, and fathers are required to stay at home for at least ten days as well.

One would expect that this time off – whether in the US or the EU – would result in dad helping out around the house more, but unfortunately, it's not always the case. In our story today, a soon-to-be dad of a newborn intends to use his paternity leave to bond with his new child… but for not much else. His wife tries to get her friend to come over to be a live-in nanny – for free! Scroll down to find out how that went over.
