Entitled Aunt asks if she can store a few items at niece's apartment, arrives with a full moving truck: 'You asked to leave a few things, not move in!'

There is a downside to being known as a generous person. If the people in your world feel that you are likely to do anything for them, it will not take long before they start taking advantage of your capacity for kindness. This does not just extend to the people in your life with whom you already may have a contentious relationship. It extends to your close-knit circle of family and friends as well. In fact, it is in these moments when you may get a truer sense of who these people really are and how they view you.

I'll never forget when a friend of mine agreed to store a few items in her refrigerator for her former roommate, who was in between apartments at the time. Now, my friend was living in a small studio apartment with an especially tiny refrigerator. I'm not sure why she agreed to this in the first place, but she did. When her former roommate showed up to her apartment, it became clear very quickly that she was going to be taking over her refrigerator pretty much entirely. At that point, it was too late for my friend to say no, even though it was well within her right to do so. Her story resembles this author's tale of an unfortunate encounter with their entitled aunt!
