Frodo probably will always have nightmares of the burning eye of Sauron turning like a flaming wheel in his mind for all of eternity, but imagine the terror of a non-corporeal Sauron when he realized two hobbits were his ultimate demise? Lacking a physical form to defend himself, Sauron watched from his evil tower as two humdrum, wholesome, stew-eating, barefoot buddies trekked across the entirety of Middle Earth.
With every defense mechanism Sauron could conjure, the hobbits continually surprised him, evading capture, mortal injuries, and almost certain demise at the hands of his most diabolical servants. Sauron was ultimately powerless to Frodo and Sam, and as they trudged and walked, he felt the creeping inevitability of vanquishment. So while Frodo may be terrified of the power of The One Ring and the all-seeing eye, the feeling was entirely mutual.
Never underestimate the power of fellowship and relentlessness, because when the journey is long and full of terrors, that could be the spark that keeps you going—or at least keeps you from falling into the reeking marshes of Emyn Muil.
