    'Can you cc me on every client email?': Employee complies with micromanager's demands and sends her emails of clients disparaging her work ethic

    Some bosses claim they want to see and approve everything… that is, until their inbox is bombarded with emails. 

    The concept of a hands-on manager may imply that being privy to every conversation, every email thread, and every little detail is essential to being a strong leader. However, in practice, being this hands-on tends to indicate that a boss has very little trust in their employees to carry out the goals and needs of the company on their own. If you don't trust the people who work for you to get the job done, then you're probably on a doomed path. Sure, it's possible that the people you hired aren't capable, but nine times out of ten, the reason behind this need to be hyper-vigilant has more to do with the manager's issues than anyone else's.

    In this instance, we have a manager who insisted upon being CC'd on every email with a client, which would ultimately mean having to sift through thousands of emails a day, thereby slowing down overall progress.
