35-year-old husband refuses to eat the dinner his wife made because she used an air fryer and a rice cooker: 'I’m just saying, my mom would never. She cooked every night from scratch. You just dump things into machines and call it gourmet.'

Everyone has a different opinion on what constitutes "real cooking." For some, a meal is not worth sniffing if it wasn't entirely made from scratch: The tomatoes planted in your yard, the basil grown in the windowsill of your kitchen, and the chicken fresh from the farm on the property. Most of us can't afford to maintain such high standards, so we settle for homemade meals made with ingredients from the grocery store. Still, there's a difference between something made with fresh, store-bought ingredients and a bunch of formerly frozen food. I say this as someone who is obsessed with frozen food: I would eat Jimmy Dean frozen sausages for breakfast every day if I could. But I am not out here claiming that it's particularly nutritious, nor is it likely appealing to someone whose taste buds have been trained to want something more sophisticated than Hilton Hotel complimentary breakfast food.
