There's no way 1995 was 30 years ago. I don't care what the calendar says! Somewhere, somehow, the math has to be wrong. I still remember it like it just happened ten years ago. OK, maybe twenty. Max.
1995 was a golden year. Peak 90s energy. The world was in a very weird but very perfect place. Jim Carrey was everywhere, riding the unstoppable momentum of The Mask, Ace Ventura, and Dumb and Dumber. Windows 95 dropped and made us feel like we were living in the future. Everyone was dancing the Macarena with full sincerity. There were no memes mocking it, just vibes and very questionable dance moves.
Tamagotchis were the emotional support pets of every schoolkid. You couldn't go five minutes without hearing Gangsta's Paradise, and Brad Pitt was on every magazine cover looking like he had been carved by angels. We were neck-deep in Nickelodeon slime, neon colors, and floppy disks. And now? Now it's all labeled as vintage. Excuse me?!
If you need help processing the fact that 1995 is retro now, scroll through these 30 throwbacks and join me in my completely healthy, totally justified denial.
