Managers—especially in the school system—rarely understand the daily happenings of their employees. Although it's part of their job description to monitor and survey their workers, it seems that they only care about the numbers on paper, such as clocking in and out or ensuring well-scheduled lunch breaks. But as every school teacher knows, the clock only says so much about their job; in fact, the most important moments happen between the lines of their timesheet, where they take unscheduled overtime to be a good leader or to help out a kid in need.
This gym teacher had grown accustomed to his overtime schedule. While he wasn't paid to hang back and watch the high school gym during a scheduling gap for teachers, he did so anyway, simply because he loved being a part of the kids' sports. However, after getting berated by their manager about clocking out at their exact contract time, chaos ensued in his absence.
