Growing up, I was always taught to be polite to strangers. Not just cordial but genuinely bending over backwards for my elders, ensuring I got enough please's and thank you's, while being certain to call anyone in authority "Sir" or "Ma'am." Call me old-fashioned, but now that I'm something of an elder myself in this world, it'd be nice to have the kids of today show the same respect.
Except nowadays, the kids seem to be running feral. Unbridled by 'gentle parenting' and Cocomelon mind control, kids are reminding us why Lord of the Flies was such a prevalently disturbing tale—it's because, without rules, children resort to their base instincts. But that's where good parenting comes in. Guiding their little hearts and minds, parents can help their kiddos grow up to be polite and wonderful contributors to society. That is, unless the parent themselves is so entitled they're beyond saving.
