21-year-old living in dad's house refuses to adhere to stepmom's demand not to eat food in their room after discovering no one else follows the rule: ‘She is picking favorites’

If you live under your parents' roof, no matter how old you are, you will probably have to abide by their rules, even if you don't like them. Whether they tell you they don't want you to wear shoes inside the house, or they ask you to turn off any music after 10 PM, it's their house, their rules, and you simply have to accept that.

However, if all of a sudden your parents decide to change the rules for one child, then retaliation might be in order. They can't expect one kid to follow their rules while letting another kid do whatever they please. Equality is important, even crucial, to maintain household peace, especially when it comes to blended families. As soon as you add stepparents and stepchildren into the mix, treating the children differently is a recipe for disaster, and the story below definitely proves the point.

The stepmom in the story below had one important house rule: Don't eat food outside of the kitchen. In and of itself, this rule makes sense, even if it is quite annoying to follow when you're a 21-year-old adult.
