Can two cousins have the same name?
In my family, there are 14 men named "Mike"—and I am not exaggerating. At my cousin's wedding, we calculated that there was a 40% chance that if you met a stranger at the reception, their name was probably Mike, and that's including the women attending the wedding. In this family, we are accustomed to nicknames, funny spellings, surnames, and any sort of twist on government names to keep the family lore straightened out, but the sisters in this next story were not prepared for that.
After accidentally choosing the same name for their respective babies, these two sisters stubbornly dug their heels in, refusing to yield the name to the other. While it's unconventional to have two cousins born five months apart to have the same surname, there are ways that everyone wins, especially if you live across the globe from one another.
But this furious older sister was not willing to share the name, causing a family stalemate.
