Entitled 32-year-old pregnant sister takes 28-year-old woman's baby name that she shared with her in confidence just because her due date is first: 'Well, we’re due first, and you don’t own names'

Baby names are one of those things where you both want to keep it secret so that others can't take it, but also want others to know about it so that they don't take it for their own. A precious little idea that has so much meaning and personality attached to i,t you can practically imagine the little human who is going to carry that name even though they're not even here yet. Then one day you're pregnant and finally close to securing that name for your own, but—bam! You divulge the name to your sister, who is even more pregnant than you, expecting a baby of her own very soon. You can see by the look on her face that she thought that was a good name—no, she liked it… Maybe a little too much. The next time you see her, she lets you know that your baby's name is now hers; she's taking it, claiming no moral wrongdoing on the account that her baby is arriving first. 

I think we've all had this happen to us at one point or another. You hear an idea so good somewhere that you just can't get it out of your head. It's one thing when it's a color your friend used to paint a room in their house that you think would look particularly good in yours, but it's a whole other thing when there are more serious legal or moral implications involved, like stealing an idea that is protected by intellectual property.

I don't have much experience in this area, but when it comes to baby names, I do know (of) some people who have had the name they want for their future children picked out from very early on in their lives. Taking that away from someone by taking their name is just cruel, especially when they're not a distant friend of a friend, but instead your own sister. To be honest I don't think I'd claim to have a sister anymore after this one.
