Stepparent bans 16-year-old stepdaughter from singing while cheering on 18-year-old stepdaughter's singing career: 'Told her to stop and she didn't listen'

What should parents do if their kid has a passion for something, but they clearly aren't good at it? Well, there's nothing wrong with doing things just for fun. You can be a bad artist and still paint to your heart's content, just for the fun of it. You can be bad at video games or miss every shot you ever take in basketball, but there's nothing wrong with continuing to do those things. As a parent, maybe you cringe watching as your child does these things badly, but is it really your place to stop them? That's the question this irritated step-parent is asking, because they can't stand the sound of their teen step-daughter's loud, off-key musical performances. 

That does sound annoying! But for some reason, these teen stepdaughters both keep belting out their tunes at the dinner table. A blanket ban on dinner-time singing would probably solve this problem without any hurt feelings, but as commenters pointed out, this is definitely indicative of a bigger issue that's going unaddressed.
