Why do so many people take it personally when someone shares their dietary restrictions? It's not a personal affront to share with someone that you don't eat meat, or have a peanut allergy, or can't eat shellfish. Yet for some reason, some people take this almost as a challenge. They wonder, "Is this person really not eating shellfish?" Some will take it a step further, and try to get that person to eat that specific food that they're avoiding. That just makes no sense, and is totally infuriating. If someone tells you they're not eating meat right now, why would your first thought be to second-guess what they just told you? 

Some people really take this way too far, and go out of their way to trick the person into eating tainted foods. That's a terrible thing to do to someone: after all, you never know what you're really doing when you alter their food. Sometimes I come across stories of baristas who will refuse to pour oat milk in coffee, and insist on using half and half because they think alternative milks are hoity-toity. The folks out there with allergies, or those who are avoiding dairy because it gives them health problems, would be furious to hear about these shenanigans. If you want to prank someone, you'll have to try a little harder and be a tiny bit more creative with your ideas than giving someone food they specifically do not want to consume.
