The Cutest Pokémon Alphabet You Ever Did See by Chrissy Li Helmich

While the Pokémon franchise is now associated with an anime, games across all platforms, and trading cards, its introduction to the world took the form of a Game Boy Game: Pocket Monsters (Pokémon) Red, Green, and Blue. The game's creator, Satoshi Tajiri, came up with the concept for the game from his experience collecting bugs as a child in Japan. He imagined a world where you could capture bigger monsters and carry them around in your pocket – hence the name in Japanese!

There are over a hundred different Pokémon nowadays, but when the first game came out in 1996, there were only 151! If you tried to make a Pokémon-themed alphabet at that time, you'd be short a few letters: Q, U, and X. However, thanks to countless games, movies, and other media, there are now enough pocket monsters with names for each letter! You wouldn't have been able to make a Pokémon-themed alphabet back in 1996 when the game came out! Little Quagsire here wouldn't be a part of the Poké-verse until Generation II.

When I was a child, one of my favorite Pokémon was Umbreon (I was a little weird, wannabe emo child). 12-year-old me is only a little disappointed that Umbreon isn't the “U” in this alphabet.
