    Do you have any childhood friends? Most of my oldest friendships were born in high school, but I do have a friend that I have knwon since we were six years old. We were sat next to each other in the first grade because our last names were close enough alphabetically; it was destiny. We were besties throughout elementary, middle, and high school, but since I moved away from my hometown for college and then even further after I got my degree, we've grown apart. We're still friends, and we'll catch up with each other over a big bowl of pho when I visit my parents, but I think neither of us would categorize one another as a "best friend" anymore.

    It's normal for childhood friendships to shift as we age. In our story today, a 16-year friendship comes to an end when our protagonist realizes he is not as close to his bestie as he thought. Feeling rejected when he is not made a groomsman, he decides not to attend his friend's wedding at all.
