Tolkien Tuesday: The Best Lord of the Rings Memes This Week (May 13, 2025)

Ian McKellen recently revealed that there had been interest in him returning as Gandalf in the long-planned Lord of the Rings prequels. He quipped that they had "better be quick" in writing them if they wanted him to reprise the role. No matter his age, we all have to concur that he is probably the definitive Gandalf—and the franchise would be a much poorer place without him.

This, in turn, is a testament to how strong the iconic original trilogy of movies is (not that we even needed it). Yet more proof comes from the fact that so many Middle-earth admirers make a hobby out of creating and consuming LOTR memes.
