So here's the thing—I have a perfectly good 65-inch TV. It's sharp, it's bright, it does its job. But lately, every time I sit down to rewatch The Lord of the Rings, I feel like I'm committing some kind of cinematic crime. This trilogy was never meant to be contained by your average television. These movies demand scale. They demand booming audio. They demand the kind of viewing experience that makes your neighbors quietly wonder if you've opened a portal to Middle-earth in your living room.
Which is why I've been thinking about getting a 4K projector. And obviously, if I'm doing that, I'd be a fool not to pair it with a top-tier surround sound system. Not for me, of course—for the family. Because if my kids can't hear the Riders of Rohan galloping in full Dolby Atmos, am I even parenting?
While I spiral further into financially justifying this totally necessary upgrade, here are 30 Lord of the Rings memes that understand me. The memes know. The memes agree. And the memes are here to remind you that Frodo didn't carry that ring so you could watch him on a glorified iPad.
