Entitled old neighbor demands 27-year-old neighbor sell her new vintage rocking chair, young neighbor refuses: “Your husband needs to straighten you out”

Hey there, gents and gals. Some people want to be isolated. They're what the world refers to as "introverts," and they enjoy their lonesome hours being immersed in themselves just as much, or more than, being in the company of others. Living alone is the best feeling, but if you live in a city like I do, you never truly feel alone. Maybe if I moved to the suburbs, with a big house several feet from my neighbors it could feel more isolated. No, but that's not quite right either. In nature maybe, where houses can be even further apart, with lots of plants, groves, and trees between us, maybe even a rivulet.

Even for people who aren't introverts, and who love being around other people, having bad neighbors is going to greatly negatively affect our quality of life whether we like it or not. Take the story below for example. The protagonist is a young woman in her late 20s, who just moved into a neighborhood. Her immediate neighbors are an older couple, about 60+, and they're not the friendliest. One could describe them as "Karens," and they definitely stick their nosy necks where they shouldn't. I love the phrasing in this piece. The imagery that this Karen-ish, old neighbor is a giraffe reeling its ugly neck around a corner to see what her neighbor bought. It's hilarious and inappropriate. I'm sure the protagonist won't hear the end of the this nosy neighbor.
