Corrupt council worker gets caught on camera coaxing a cat into the street so she could slam the owner with a $280 "roaming" fine: ‘Seems like she was trespassing and stole a cat.’

You know, there's a whole debate about whether you should let your cats outside or not, and whatever your stance may be, there is one thing that none of us can argue, and that is that stories of cats roaming outside are some of the funniest ones out there. Seriously, we have read about everything from cats visiting their neighbors and creating chaos in other households, to cats stealing their neighbor's underwear, all the way to cats starting romances with neighboring cats.

These stories seem to always be silly and weird and wholesome, but not today. Apparently, in Australia, stories about outdoor cats can end in them being stoles, and not by some crazy person (although you could argue that this woman is one, we don't know), but by the council. The law seems to be against outdoor cats down under. You could try to convince us that the law is right and that cats really shouldn't roam outside like this, but this behavior… we think it's pretty cut and dry that this was not right. What do you think?

We have learned about something new today. Roaming fines. We didn't even know that such a thing existed before. And we think that it's ridiculous. Sure, you could explain all the reasons to us, and we would probably understand, but… streets without cats that we can walk around and try to pet just sound like very sad streets to us.

Either way, this does look like an unfair situation to us. Cats are like babies in some ways. They could be good and stay in their yards, but if someone comes up to them and offers them something (which this woman might have, we don't know what was in her hand), then there's a good chance they'd try to get it.
