32-year-old stepmother sets 15-year-old straight after teen tells her she's a “gold digger with a uterus”: 'I never tried to replace her mom, but I’ve been a consistent, caring adult in her life'

If kids can be brutally honest and say the truth out loud even when it's impolite teens take it to another level and can be really nasty by saying the thing they know will hurt you the most, twisting the knife in further when they see it's effective. But, hey, being a teenager is a complicated and confusing time.  There's clearly a parenting issue happening here also. It's clear that her parents aren't willing to teach her the lessons that she needs to be learning and are coddling the teen instead of correcting her and telling her off when necessary and saying inappropriate things in front of her. 

There's definitely some projecting happening here on the teen's part, involving her insecurity about her own mother's involvement in her life. The teen probably feels she needs to knock her stepmother-to-be down a peg in order to raise her mother up to a more equal level. However, the stepmother-to-be definitely needs to reevaluate whether or not stooping to an angsty teenager's level is worth it (it's not.) But clearly, no one else is willing to put the teen in her place so you can't blame a woman for trying.
