Hey there, internet goers. Parenting is never easy for anyone. Someone could read all the books, talk to multiple people across cultures about parenting styles, techniques, and belief systems, but at the end of the day there's nothing and no one who can prepare you for the actual setting of being a mother or father to that little blank slate that you need to teach everything to. No one becomes a parent expecting to do a bad job, or expecting to be a bad parent. It's all a gamble, and every parent has their pros and cons regardless of how hard they try to be perfect.

When it comes to disciplining your child, there are many different routes you can take. Some parents prefer to be more "chill" about discipline, and don't want to rock the boat. Some parents are strict and are easily ready to cut their kid off from friends, games, or anything else they enjoy.

In the story below, the protagonist is a woman who notices her nephew has very strict parents. If he does one thing out of line, even if it's an accident, then he has to kneel for an hour facing a wall in complete silence. She approaches her brother about it, but it doesn't go smoothly.

I definitely think it's a very extreme punishment for a child, especially when they didn't do something wrong intentionally. I think it's important to teach your children the difference between consequences of their purposeful actions, versus if they don't mean to do anything wrong.
