Classical Art Memes Illustrating the Ins and Outs of Intimacy for Medieval Maidens (April 15, 2025)

Fair maidens and valour knights, gather round. Everyone admires a story centering around young, unconditional love, a triangle of sadness, and the threat of eternal punishment for a momentary wrongdoing. We all love a drama filled story with lovers, evil, and the possibility of something happening we didn't expect. When we look at classical art, it gives us insight into the past, and into ourselves. There's a famous quote by Pablo Picasso saying, "art is a lie that tells the truth," and I wholeheartedly agree. Art is absolutely a lie telling the truth. When an artist writes a song about an addiction, or a love affair, it doesn't mean they've necessarily gone through that experience. Therefore, they're telling a lie, something that didn't happen. But if it sticks with us and we can empathize with it, then we feel something real, something true in ourselves. 

When we look at classical art of Renaissance romances, medieval musings, or religious symbolism, we find something true in ourselves that we didn't even know was there. There are never too many arts to engage in, never enough time to delve into paintings, charcoal, or drawings that leave us full or empty, in a good way.
