What does gift giving mean? Is it a chance for you to have someone "owe" you? Like, "oh, I got you this really really nice expensive thing. I expect some of more or equal value when it comes time to my gift." Do you use it as a time to express how you really feel about someone? "Oh, I got them deodorant because they always smell so bad and I gave it in front of all of their friends and family so everybody knows." Or do you give a gift to someone you care about to show them that you care about them and you were trying to be thoughtful because their happiness is important to you and you cherish their presence in your life and you don't expect anything in return?
