Training a dog is no simple task, but it's one you learn to do with experience.
Like parents of human babies, dogs and puppies don't come with an instruction manual, so you better believe that most pawrents are doing their fair share of Googling, late-night kibble-brand panic sessions, and worrying about whether or not they're doing things right with their pup. But after hours and hours of research, long days training at the park, and copious puppy meet-n-greets to socialize their doggo, our dogs get a chance to prove themselves.
As a proud dog owner myself, I've watched my dog's training unfold in real time. He was a lock-down puppy, like many dogs out there turning 4 or 5 years old, and because of that, he's had a hard time adjusting to stranger contact, random dogs, and general puppy politeness. I've watched countless dog training videos, attended classes, and done my best to be the best darn dog mom out there, and while it was discouraging at times when he was lunging and barking and not at all acting like the polite and presentable pooch I dreamed of, I stuck with it. Lo and behold, years later and what feels like a million hours at the park, I'm proud to see how far my dog's training has come.
Murphy may not be the most gentlemanly of pups out there, but he is a gosh darn good dog. And he's my boy. (Dog tax below)
