Working with and for people you get a sense of their true character, how they're capable of and willing to treat others—especially those who are subordinate to them—tells you everything you need it to about them.

It's not a huge surprise that people who have shown themselves to be of poor character then reaffirm that by reacting poorly when you give your resignation.

Still, there are those who you'll be disappointed by, employers who you thought you had a good relationship with who ended up doing a complete 180, taking your leaving personally and casting you out of their life. Revealing that the real thing they valued in your relationship was the control they had over you.

This worker handed in their resignation after finding a better offer from a competitor, choosing to email their boss, a director of the company, their resignation because she was working from home again—despite insisting that no one was able to work from home—and was unreachable in any other way.

They CC'd HR in their email, which might make sense to most of us since HR needs to be informed anyway—but their boss took HR's inclusion in the email personally, taking it as some sort of personal slight, probably because it was further removing the power she thought she held over the worker.
