Taxes are a wild concept when you really think about it. It's basically a yearly subscription fee for simply existing in your own country. And if you forget to renew it? Immediate jail. The government already takes money out of your paycheck, and apparently they know exactly how much we make and how much we owe, so why do we have to do the math all over again? And if you mess up the math that they already know the answers to… again, jail. If you're a W-2 employee, tax season might be a happy time of year because you could get a refund check and a little serotonin boost. But if you're a freelancer or 1099 worker, RIP. I'm a freelancer, so tax season isn't about refunds; it's about procrastinating until the very last second before I have to send the IRS a check on the size of a small used car. Whether you're in denial or knee-deep in receipts and panic, these memes are for everyone out there who still hasn't filed. Solidarity.
