Boss fails to finish big client's order in time, blames it on an overworked employee who refuses to take the fall, boss fires them as a result: ‘I acted exactly as instructed’

Working as someone's employee often means you have to take the blame for their mistakes, even if you (and everyone else at the office) know it was definitely not your fault. On the contrary, you very possibly have warned your boss about making certain mistakes and they refused to listen to you. Yet still that doesn't stop them from refusing to own up to their mistakes and blaming you for them in the process.

Some employees accept their fate as employees and agree to take the fall for their bosses. They accept that it's just part of the job, and hope their boss will learn from their mistakes next time (which spoiler alert–they usually don't). Other employees refuse to give in to their boss's entitled behavior and stand their ground. They insist their boss accept they were the one at fault, and do not give in to their demands.

However, if one decides to take the second route, they seriously risk losing their jobs over incidents like these, which is what happened to the employee in the story below.

When they tried to prevent their boss from making a mistake with a big client's order, they were seriously reprimanded for it. So the next time it happened, they kept quiet, which led to quite an office dispute.
