Break up with him. Seriously. Let's not even talk about the fact that you have been dating for nine years without him asking you to marry or without even moving in with you… asking you to change your behavior with your cat is unacceptable. Certainly not after 9 years during which he for sure knew that you cuddled with your cat at night.

Really, this sounds like a toxic relationship all around, and we are sure that your cat would be happy for you to use him as an excuse to finally end this relationship. If he could talk, he would tell you to do it, just like all of the comments under this post.
