This boss decided that it was of the utmost importance to dissolve the flexible lunchtime that team members were enjoying and instead enforce a strict noon lunch hour. Perhaps he was trying to use the all-team lunch hour as a means of boosting morale and team bonding.

Regardless of the intent, all this ended up doing was leaving customers abandoned for an hour and causing total chaos. Part of that flexibility was not only beneficial for team members, but it also benefited the workflow. Of course, the new boss hadn't considered that. He probably would have been given the heads up if he had asked his team about lunchtime rules before enforcing the new policy, but alas! He was only going to learn via malicious compliance!
