Anyone who has lost someone close to them knows that inheritance is no compensation for the loss. If you've never lost a parent, sibling, or close grandparent, it might be difficult to conceptualize how money cannot fill the hole in your heart. It's much easier to be secretly cavalier about inheritance money, secretly dreaming of a significant sum of cash getting transferred directly to your direct deposit if you've never had a loss that rocked your world and affected you for years or even the rest of your life. It is insulting to think that any amount of money will heal an unimaginable loss to most.

Even if you have thoughts like, "Wouldn't it be nice to get a lot of money from Grandpa after he passes? " You are hopefully socially couth enough not to share those thoughts in front of Grandpa during Thanksgiving dinner. Unfortunately, not everybody has such instincts.

The sister in this story is beyond insensitive. Her sister's husband lost both of his parents in a horrible accident when he was 17, and got a lot of money from that. This young woman had the bright idea to tell him that he had no idea how lucky he was to have that money.
