24-year-old musician forbids parents from bringing his 10-year-old and 7-year-old siblings over to his place because they break his belongings: 'My parents are hurt saying that my brother and sister should be more important than money/possessions'

This young man caught his parents by surprise when he told his parents that he didn't want them to bring his siblings with them when they came to visit him in his post-collegiate living situation. With the siblings' behavior and past treatment of his things being the key contributing factor to his refusal to host them.

Still, as with anything it's down to the details, like with that single mother who wanted to live with her baby in her sister's college dorm room with her and her roommate. It's easy enough to look at that situation and say "My sister is refusing to let me live with her" when in all actuality it was more of an "It's impossible for me to live with my sister because of where she lives.

The same thing is happening here, it's less so of an "I don't want my siblings coming over" and more of an "It really isn't a good idea for them to come over because of where I live." Audio equipment and instruments both are equally and frighteningly delicate and as a result, a studio space is no place to have small children running around. All it takes is one careless accidental knock of a $6000 guitar, and suddenly, you have kindling with some strings still attached to it. Same thing with speakers and amps and all those cables lying around everywhere, it really isn't a place for children. And that's assuming the children are well-behaved to start with. Really, the reality here is you wouldn't invite anyone who had proven to be careless with your things back into your home normally, and siblings are no different.

His parents, of course, took offense to this. It's mighty inconvenient after all to have to find childcare just so you can go and visit anyone let along your own eldest first-born child. So he took to this online community to appeal to readers and see if he was in the wrong for his decision.
